About the Program

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program supports leaders and specialists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine by granting them scholarships for one year of complementary studies in Poland.

Kirkland Research Program

In September 2016 a new pilot path under the Kirkland Program called Kirkland Research Program was launched. It offers 4-months research and scientific internships for persons who already enjoy an established scientific position.

Lane Kirkland – our patron
Lane Kirkland was born on March 12, 1922 in Camden, South Carolina. In 1948, after graduation, Kirkland started working for the American Federation of Labor (AFL).

The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program

– Competition for the Kirkland Scholarships 2018/2019

The Program is addressed to young leaders interested in the development of democracy, economy and civil society in their countries and the region. Implementation of the Program takes place within the framework of two semesters of study at Polish universities and at least 2-week internships in state or private institutions. The invitation to submit applications is directed to the candidates who decide to return to their country after the scholarship, to implement the project or the knowledge gained as part of the scholarship.

– Competition for the Kirkland Research Program in 2018

The one-semester studies entail individual research work under the guidance of a tutor, the effect of which is to prepare a research paper.

The candidates who are planning to return to their countries of origin after the scholarship program for the purpose of implementing the newly acquired knowledge there in are welcome to submit their applications.

22-23 November 2013 Organized by the Embassy of Poland (now in its seventh) conference which brings together the Ukrainian graduates of various scholarship programs in Poland took place this year in Lviv from 22-23 November. Its aim was to present the achievements of graduates and to support their integration.

Program Administrator

 Leaders of Change Foundation was established in February 2016 with the aim to coordinate the two acting for years, programs of Polish-American Freedom Foundation – the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program and the Study Tours to Poland Program. Both programs are international in nature and combines them similarity of target groups, giving the opportunity to develop cooperation and the scope of action in the future.

Program Founder

The Foundation was established by the Polish-American Enetrprise Fund organized following the Support for the East European Democracy Act passed by the U.S. Congress in 1989.
